Before I started taking Vitamin C every day, I could occasionally feel some fatigue, muscle weakness, and would get a cold from time to time. I later came to learn this was as a result of Vitamin C deficiency. Now, my health has improved and I consider Vitamin C to be a very important nutrient that everybody should take daily.

Importance of Vitamin C

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is among the most crucial antioxidants that our bodies need to improve our immune system, minimize oxidative stress, and prevent scurvy. Studies have shown that Vitamin C has the ability to strengthen your cardiovascular health, kill cancerous cells, heal wounds, and fight off infections in our bodies.

Everyone wants to live a healthy and happy life, and Vitamin C makes this possible by boosting your overall health system, preventing you from many forms of disease and nutrient deficiencies. Research shows that your body uses a lot more Vitamin C when you get sick/when you’re stressed than when you are healthy and in normal condition. Therefore, whenever you’re in one of these situations, it would be smart to consume foods that are rich in Vitamin C to avoid deficiency, which weakens your overall health.

We live in a world where the level of toxins in our environment is extremely high. Environmental toxins such as plastics and heavy metals have found their way into our bodies through the food and water we consume. This leads to a high depletion of Vitamin C from our bodies, thus comes the need to take additional Vitamin C that we may not be able to get from fruits and vegetables.  We need to take more supplements of Vitamin C to ensure that our bodies remain strong each and every day (not just during “cold season”).

Unlike other mammals that produce their own Vitamin C, humans are not able to, thus we need to consume it through food and supplements. Taking Vitamin C on a daily basis is very important to our health, and the great thing about it, is that it gets absorbed immediately. While we need it in larger amounts than what we’re used to, there is no recommended amount of Vitamin C that one should take within a particular time period. According to research, when you take less than 45mgs in a day, you risk developing a condition known as scurvy. This disease leads to a weakened immune system, pale skin, and weak bones. If the vitamin intake is not increased, an individual will further develops critical conditions like jaundice and neuropathy. The deficiency can even lead to death. Due to this fact, the World Health Organization has given a universal recommendation that everyone take at least 45mgs per day. The FDA recommends 70mgs a day, while Health Canada advocates for 90mgs in a day. Although the recommended amount per day can be used to prevent scurvy, the human body requires even more, like a dosage of 1,000mgs or more each day to fight things like coronary disease and to kill cancer cells.    

The best way to get your Vitamin C, and other nutrients in is by consuming healthy, clean, organic, non-GMO fruits and vegetables. Foods highest in Vitamin C are Guavas,  Kiwi, Kale, Bell Peppers, Broccoli, Papaya, and Brussels Sprouts, Oranges, Strawberries, and Tomatoes. While this is the best way, for me it’s easier to take Vitamin C supplements. I personally take this Vitamin C from Source Naturals. I trust their brand of supplements. It’s a powder like substance that mixes easily with liquids. It tastes a little salty, but other than that, the taste is not strong, and it’s pretty easy to drink. Whichever Vitamin C supplement you choose, it should have a high level of citrus bioflavonoids and calcium ascorbate.

Personal Experience of Taking Daily Vitamin C and How Much I Take

Since I started taking Vitamin C on a daily basis, my health has improved tremendously, I rarely get sick anymore, and I have much more energy. I find myself working out for longer periods without getting exhausted. Each day, I consume between 5,000 and 7,000mgs of Vitamin C from foods and supplements combined, but most of it comes from the supplement. I just mix the powder with water (you can mix it with water, juice, etc.) and drink up!

***IMPORTANT*** The first time you consume the supplement, you will more than likely experience a Vitamin C Flush which means you’ll have diarrhea right after your first use before your body adapts to it. This is actually used by many as a quick and powerful detox method. This is rarely experienced after the first use, unless you increase your dosage.

What is vibration or frequency?

It is important to know that everything is energy. Science, through quantum physics, is showing us that everything in our entire universe is made up of pure energy. Universal Law states that everything in the universe moves and vibrates - everything is vibrating at one speed or another. Nothing rests. Everything you see around you is vibrating at one frequency or another and - so are YOU.  Your “vibration”, is the universal life energy, or higher self-frequency that forms the simplest terms of your state of being. Everything is made up of light energy, and everything emits its own unique vibrational energy…and so, be you. According to the law of attraction, like attracts like, therefore, the energy at which you vibrate, influences the type of experiences, people, and situations that you attract into your life.

We can choose to vibrate at a high vibration or, we can choose to vibrate at a lower one. High vibrations are generally associated with positive qualities and feelings such as love, forgiveness, compassion, and peace. On the other hand, low vibrations are associated with qualities such as depression, greed, hatred, and fear.  With higher vibrations, you will feel happier and healthier because a lot of mental/physical diseases cannot exist above a certain frequency. The higher your vibration, the healthier you will be. Happiness goes hand in hand with health. Higher vibration will also enable you to feel more love because as you increase your vibration, you are letting go of the lower level energies such as fear, jealousy and anger and thus, opening up room for this amazing state of being. You will increase the love that you have for yourself, but also the love you will begin to have for those around you, and consciousness as a whole.

Why should you raise your vibration?

You should raise your vibration to be as high as possible because raising your vibration enables you to receive clearer guidance from your higher self…since it is vibrating at a higher level. Your higher self knows your true essence, knows your reason for being born in this lifetime, and the more you can base your actions off of the guidance you receive from it, the more you will be in tune with your own personal truth and path. If you allow it, the people, situations, and information you come across in your everyday life can influence your vibrational frequency.  When you engage with people and situations of lower vibration, you may be unknowingly inviting various negative situations into your own experience as well. This can be avoided if you practice raising your vibes enough to have a constant connection to your higher self. This in turn can give you little signs of inspiration, and feelings of intuition that will help you to make the right choices, and choose not to let lower energies affect you, or your daily life.

You should raise your vibration because it helps you to manifest your dreams with more ease. With a raised vibration, you begin to remember your birthright, and you start to feel that you deserve for good things happen to you, so the universe works to deliver the best it has to offer for you, and your dream attainment. And whenever you’re in this high vibrational state you will be attracting more higher vibrational encounters, positive emotions, as well as, experiences of sheer bliss to yourself. You will be aligning your physical life with the visualizations you have in your dreams.

Life is truly what you decide to make of it. Every being will go through difficulties, challenges, and pain on some level. Raising your vibration helps you to see life in a positive light, helping you to live a positive, happy, and peaceful life. You will be able to deal with challenges from a different viewpoint and be able to see the glass as "half-full".  You will be grateful for all experiences and growth, instead of living a stressful, angry, depressed life, feeling like a victim. Whenever your thoughts and emotions tune into a frequency, you can ONLY see the reality that resides at that frequency. For example, when you are in a depressed state of mind, you will see nothing but the negative in your reality.  On the other hand, if you are in a joyful/happy state of mind, you will automatically see nothing but the positive around you. Thus, it is very important to always try as much as possible to direct your consciousness to a high vibrational frequency.  This is because higher vibrational thoughts and feelings result in higher vibrational REALITIES. You create your own reality, and the rate at which you vibrate will dictate that.

Overall, when you’re operating at a higher vibrational and frequency level, you are more apt to see all of the positivity in the world around you. You can see and appreciate yourself, your growth, and open up to the positive, powerful, source energy that we all have access to. You will become an open receptor to the Divine Love that lives through you, and all around you.

What are Affirmations?

If it is change in your life that you seek, you must first change your thoughts and what you choose to focus on. It is up to you to create the life that you desire, and this can be done by using your thoughts. You can sculpt your brain the same way you can sculpt your muscles when working out. There is scientific evidence that shows that your thoughts create emotions and feelings, which have a direct effect on the creation of your reality. Studies show that it is possible to sculpt your brain by using affirmations.

Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into your mind, which could inspire, energize and motivate you. Repeating affirmations, and the resultant mental images, affect the subconscious mind, which in turn, influences your behavior, habits, actions, and reactions. Similar to prayer and meditation, affirmations allow you to take control, harness your thoughts, and make them work for you, not against you. This means that you can essentially "re-wire” your brain and end your continuous loops of the same patterns over and over and over again.

When you repeat affirmations, or "I statements", this programs your brain to make it believe whatever it is you want it to believe. Did you know that thoughts make chemicals? If you have happy thoughts, then you’re producing chemicals that make you feel happy. Thoughts then become organized into a certain “pattern” that is known as a “neuro-net”. For example: The feeling of love is stored in a very large neuro-net. Each person builds his/her concept of love from many different ideas and experiences. Some people have connected love to disappointment; so when they think about love, they instantly experience the memory of pain, sorrow, or even anger.

Affirmations interrupt your maladaptive neuro-nets. And the more you use affirmations, the more those nerve cells that are connected to each other, start BREAKING the long-term relationship associated with your negative thoughts, literally re-wiring to your new, affirming beliefs! Scientists call this phenomenon: Neuroplasticity.

To begin re-creating your life, start a daily pattern of repeating affirmations. Repeat them throughout each day, or say them in the morning, at night, or both.

Preliminary: Watching "The Secret" is a great start, and the documentary gives a simple overview of the concept.

Simple Steps:

  1. Ask. Figure out what it is that you want, and ask for it. Ask the universe, God, the creator, or whoever/whatever you believe in for what it is that you want. Ask with appreciation and love, knowing that you deserve whatever it is that you can dream of.
  2. Believe.  Believe with all of your being that you WILL get what you want. Use all of your senses and imagination to place yourself into the vision of you already having what you want. See yourself having the career of your dreams, living in your dream home, or having perfect health. Allow yourself to feel all of the emotions that you know will come with it.
  3. Receive. Receiving means feeling as if whatever you want is already yours, and letting go of any resisting feelings that may indicate otherwise. Believe that it is yours now, and live in the state of allowing. Be open to the endless possibilities and ways that it can come to you by not focusing on the "How". For example: You may be focusing on constantly checking your email for a new job opportunity, but you may have missed the universe's first attempt that came in the form of a blocked telephone call that you chose not to answer. Remember, anything is possible. Be ready for all possibilities. Receive. Recognize the greatness that you've already attracted into your life by living in a constant state of appreciation for everything that you have now. Then watch as the universe conspires in your favor every time.

Here's some tips:

  • Expect that there will be challenges ahead. The "bigger" the dream, the more challenges you will face to prepare you for what you want, but know that this is what is needed to take you to the next steps.
  • Act on inspiration. The universe will begin sending you different opportunities that are meant to bring you closer to your desires. In order to receive this inspiration, it helps to quiet your mind first and feel your intuition. Meditation helps to achieve this.
  • Be patient. Plant the seed by asking for what you want, keep watering that seed by taking inspired actions, and before you know it, your flower will have blossomed right before your eyes, sometimes without you even realizing it (because you'll be too busy expressing gratitude for everything you already have! ).

Practicing gratitude is a simple, yet powerful way to raise your vibrations. Next to feeling unconditional love, being thankful is of the utmost importance to any spiritual practice. Everything is made of energy, and therefore has a certain frequency. Thoughts that carry similar frequencies stick together, forming a pattern that is spread throughout your energy field. By continuing to think the same thoughts, a pattern is created that is felt by the human body, and we call these feelings: emotions. When you think thoughts that feel low (sadness, anger, fear), it creates emotions that lower your vibrational frequency. Likewise, when you have thoughts that feel high (love, happiness, joy), it creates emotions that elevate your frequency. High frequency emotions feel better to you because they are closer in vibration to your true nature as a spiritual being of PURE LOVING ENERGY. How do we know this? Because we know it feels better to feel good, rather than to feel bad!

Gratitude is a feeling that feels good because of its high vibrational frequencies. Therefore, when you feel thankful, you feel a boost of positive energy geared towards that thought, and this elevates your energy and your emotions. This means that practicing gratitude raises your vibrations! And the more you do this, the more the high frequencies become your normal pattern of being. This is good because when it comes to energy, like attracts like. So, if you are living at high frequencies, you will attract people, circumstances and things that are also of high frequency. Thus, you will attract more things to be grateful for, creating a cycle of happiness. This cycle of happiness and high vibrations also helps you to: feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even build a stronger immune system!

How to Express Gratitude?

While it's great to think thoughts of gratitude throughout the day, there's something special about writing things down. One of the best ways to practice gratitude is to write a daily gratitude list.

The purpose of writing a daily gratitude list is to feel good about it, not to get it done and over with so you can get more experiences to feel good about. It helps you to feel good now, and appreciate what you already have. This shifts your perspective to a more feeling-oriented experience, helping you to feel deep appreciation for everything you have, and everything you've been through.

It is important to be thankful for every single experience in your life, because you are the creator that brought it into your life. Writing this daily list helps you to reflect on your experiences, whether good or "bad", because you were born with the amazing gift of awareness that helps you realize what vibes led you to what outcome. You will find that it is quite liberating to know that whatever thoughts you put into the universe, come back to you in physical manifestation. This means that you no longer have to be a victim of circumstance, because you realize that you are an all-powerful creator, creating your life as you go. That my friend, is definitely something to be grateful for.

Here's a tip: If you have the ability, the universe loves when you write things down. So go out and buy the most powerful feeling journal or notebook you can find, and put a pen to that pad!
